I also received the best award from Yahoo on the limitations of the Indian education system(details below). In case the title is misleading, it is all aimed at right man for the right job. The literal meaning of the word education which is derived from the latin word “educere” is to draw out what is already in and not blindly stuff in. In that context , what is mentioned below, is also directed at the students as they are the future careerists. This also has a spiritual connotation; since spirituality is all about being peaceful, balanced and equanomous at all times, no gross misfit in the wrong profession can ever be spiritual in letter and spirit. That apart, according to the Bhagavad Gita, another definition of Yoga is “Dexterity in action” or “Excellence in work” which is simply not possible if you are in a profession towards which you are not seriously inclined. Even in our shastras the word “Svadharma” is mentioned which implies the right vocation if not calling.
There is a saying in management that “You have to go southwards to go northwards”; it is therefore important to throw some light on what happens if you are not in the right career.Work occupies a majority of our waking hours and if they are miserable, life becomes unbearable. The magnitude of the problem can be gauged from extreme expressions such as “Lifetime imprisonment” ,”Spiritual suicide”, “A life time of pain and suffering”” used by sufferers or some of the “titles” of the books that have been written by people like them:-

Well, I read TOI and have come across few of these posts in the newspapers. But frankly, I dont know what to make of it. I mean these are no doubt exceptionally well written and motivating. But to begin with, I somehow dont find myself to be the right audience for this post. What I mean is I am not at all “trapped in the wrong profession”.
I am enjoying my profession. Maybe thats because I have been in it just over a year now. Of course, maybe its not my ultimate passion, meaning that it is possible that there is some other profession to which I wouldve done better justice, and which wouldve done better justice to me. Nevertheless it is satisfying for me.
I would love to know your thoughts on this situation. A person really likes his job and is doing enough justice to it. However, it may not be what he was “made for”. Would you please oblige? 😀
Probably you got the wrong idea after reading my blog. I was coming more from the angle of EVERYONE being able to give back to society, no matter what profession he or she is in. Which means you can keep your job and earn well and still fulfill your utmost duty – of paying back to society. You dont need to sacrifice everything. Anyways, I dont think this is relevant to the present context ,and I’ve already written about it on my blog, So i’l let it pass.
But please do put in your thoughts about the professional dilemma I mentioned above.

Fear can cause people to hide and cower. What do you think? Is killing thousands of innocent civilians okay when you are doing a little government makeover?
Our country is in debt until forever, we don’t have jobs, and we live in fear. We have invaded a country and been responsible for thousands of deaths.
The more people that the government puts in jails, the safer we are told to think we are. The real terrorists are wherever they are, but they aren’t living in a country with bars on the windows. We are.
